“A Heart of Thanksgiving”
Psalm 107:1-3 & Acts 16:29
How this passage points to Christ: Jesus embodies the ultimate act of redemption and thankfulness, demonstrating through His life how appreciation of God’s mercy should flow into our lives as an expression of love and devotion to Him and to others.
Big Idea: A life of authentic worship leads to a grateful heart
1. Gratitude Grounds Us v.1
2. The Gospel Redeems Us vs. 2-4
“In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea”. Isaiah 11:11
“I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline At the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven “
-Matthew 8:11
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them,”
-Acts 16:25
“We are more concerned about looking stupid (a fear of people) than we are about acting sinfully (a fear of God).”
― Edward T. Welch, When People Are Big and God is Small: Overcoming Peer Pressure, Codependency, and the Fear of Man
“And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.”
-Acts 16:29-32
